EPS Bulk Signing Patient Facing Services Requests

Introduction

In addition to the existing bulk signing functionality, Emis Web v9.25 and later offer users the opportunity to bulk sign PFS (patient facing services) requests (e.g. NHS App, Patient Access, myGP, etc.)

In order to take advantage of this feature, you must first enable this in the system configuration.

Enablement

Actionrequired

Within Workflow Manager configuration, choose Medicine Management from Organisation Options.

As the setting is within 'Organisation options', enabling this will activate the module for the whole practice (users may have to log off, then back on again in order to see this immediately after enablement).

EPS Bulk Signing PFS Requests

Bulk signing EPS requests from Patient Facing Services works in the same way as regular bulk signing.

From Workflow Manager, select Medicine Management, then Patient Facing Services requests:

A list of the medications requested through Patient Facing Services appears on screen:

Bulk1b

1) You can click individual patients down the left hand side, or click on 'select all' (1) to select all patients on that page

2) The task list count at the bottom left of the screen shows you how many medication tasks have been requested.  You will only be able to bulk approve the tasks visible, and once these have been approved the next page of tasks is automatically displayed.

3) You can see warnings for each of the medications by clicking on the red triangle

Bulk2

4) Click the 'view details' hyperlink to show more information about the request

5) Once all the patient requests have been selected (from (1)) that you want to bulk approve, click (5) Approve and Complete selected

Please note: Any text notes entered through patient facing will appear below the patients name on the EPS Bulk Signing Request Review screen (above)

Exclusions

Just like regular EPS Bulk Signing, the bulk signing requests from patient facing services apps have a number of exclusions.

These are:

  • the drug needs to be reauthorised
  • any item with an unmapped quantity
  • NSPA, extra high severity and allergy contraindication items
  • teratogens and other high risk items
  • repeat dispensing courses must have a duration of no more than 365 days
  • repeat dispensing courses must not be for schedule 2 or 3 controlled drugs
  • the preparation must have a dm+d code
  • the course must not be private
  • there must be an appropriate pharmacy available for the patient when set to phase 3
  • the patient must not have opted out of EPS

Items included in the above categories will not appear for EPS Bulk Signing and must be dealt with normally.
