Unsupported 3rd Party Solutions

Unsupported third-party solutions

Publish Date: 30/09/2024 14:32:24 BST

There are a number of third parties that offer products and services that interact with EMIS Web and other EMIS products, including solutions that automate certain tasks using ‘User Interface’ based automation, that have not been reviewed or assured by EMIS.

We advise customers check our website for a full list of assured and supported partners, their products and the functionality they provide, before procuring a solution that is intended to interact with any EMIS product. This is to ensure that they interact with our products in a technically assured way.

We are aware that some third parties may claim that their products have been ‘assured’ by EMIS or ‘interoperate’ with EMIS products in their promotional material. However, while their products may be able to interact with EMIS products, this does not mean that we have reviewed, approved or assured those solutions.

It is your decision as to which third party products you may choose to use that may interact with an EMIS solution in some way. We make no comment in relation to the suitability of any such products and services to meet your needs and the use of such products and services, including any interaction they have with EMIS products, is entirely at your own risk. However, we would flag that where an unassured solution is in use, EMIS has no responsibility to support or enable interactions with those solutions.

It is important to note that we may, from time to time, make changes to our products which may impact on the performance or efficacy of third-party solutions. EMIS has no obligation to inform solution providers of these changes where that product is not EMIS assured, and it is the responsibility of the relevant supplier to manage any consequential amendments required.

Thanks,

EMIS

Guidance on NHSNoReply

The NHS is the world’s largest publicly funded health service, sending millions of patient emails and messages a day. There are currently several different versions of the NHSNoReply SMS sender IDs in use (such as nhsnoreply, NHS NOREPLY and NHS-NoReply), which can make it difficult for patients to identify genuine messages from NHS providers. This also poses additional threats to cyber security, such as smishing, spoofing and potential fraud, which can compromise public confidence in the NHS brand.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is updating best practice guidance around patient communication, with an aim to reduce the number of SMS Sender IDs used across the NHS, ensure that the SMS sender ID reflects the service that the patient is consuming and reduce the risk of blocked and bounce-back messages. On behalf of NCSC, we are requesting that all NHS providers enforce the use of the chosen combination, ‘NHSNoReply’ ONLY and that all other variations are blocked from 5 November.

For more information, please visit the NCSC website, or contact the Telecoms team to request a workshop if required.
