Swivel and Global Protect - Remote Access
Initial Set Up
To gain access to the corporate NHS network you will require the following:
- Your Windows Username and Password that you use to logon to your computer at work – only to be used on corporate devices
- A Swivel PINsafe PIN number that has been provided to you by the MLCSU IT Service Desk
- The device being used will require an active Wi-Fi connection
Open Swivel and Global Protect
Double click the Global VPN icon on the Desktop.

The GlobalProtect and Swivel Security String boxes will open. Click Connect in the GlobalProtect box.

Enter your Windows Username and Password. Do not click Connect just yet.

Generate PINsafe code
You will now need to generate the PINsafe code to enter after your windows password.
The code will only be active for 2 minutes. You can click Refresh if required as many times as you need to ensure a clear image, or if the 2 minutes time has elapsed.
If the Swivel Security String box or the Global Protect box is not displayed, double click the Global VPN icon on the desktop.

- The PINsafe image displays 2 rows of numbers
- The top row of numbers is static and are used by the user to match the PIN number to the numbers on the bottom row to generate the Unique Code
- In this example the users PIN is set to 3286, when the numbers on the top row are matched to the numbers on the bottom row it generates a Unique Code. In this example it generated a Unique Code of 1328
- In this example the user’s Windows password is set to Feelgoodfriday
- The actual password to be entered is in the format of Feelgoodfriday1328 into the Global Protect password box.
Click Connect on the Global Protect box.

The Global Protect box will display connecting and then confirm when the connection is complete.

You can close on the Swivel Security String box and continue to work on the computer.
Disconnect from Global Protect
Click the Show hidden icons arrow in the bottom right corner of the window and click the Global Protect icon.

When the Global Protect box is displayed, click Disconnect.
