Cervical Screening Management System

Cervical Smear Management System CSMS

We continue to prepare to launch the new Cervical Screening Management System (CSMS).

Once CSMS goes live, Open Exeter will no longer be accessible for NHS Cervical Screening Programme purposes.

Currently an email advising Practices that the Prior Notification List (PNL) is available for completion is sent by the Cervical Screening Administration Service (CSAS).

In order to continue to receive PNL reminders once CSMS goes live, please review and update the email address details in Open Exeter by Friday 7th June 2024.

These checks can be completed by visiting the Organisation Maintenance Screen on the main menu Application drop down list.

Please enter a generic email address, rather than a named individual’s email address to ensure notifications are not missed.

Where required, the Practice’s Primary Contact/Primary User for Open Exeter can email pcse.openexeter@nhs.net requesting that the email address for cervical screening PNLs is updated.  Please include the Practice code/ODS code in the request.

  • Complete CSMS access checks

To ensure continuity of service provision, all system users must carry out an access check to confirm they can access CSMS.

The access check will not enable you to use CSMS yet, it is to check you have the right permissions to access it when it does go live.

You can check your access here and this guidance will support you.

  • Complete CSMS Training

The first of 2 modules is now live on the Learning Hub (to access use your e-Learning for Health login).

Training must be completed before using the new CSMS. For more information please visit the website

Module 2 of the training materials will be available 5 weeks prior to CSMS being launched.

Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please contact the CSMS Implementation Team at screening.implementation@nhs.net

Accessibility (300 X 300 Px)

What is happening with accessibility?

Following government legislation, public sector organisations have a duty to ensure all content that they produce meets government outlined accessibility criteria.

This includes all websites, intranets and apps as well as PDFs. MS Office documents, images, web pages and videos.

For more information and details on the Accessibility creating content course please visit our Accessibility Information and Guides page on the MLCSU Academy.
